Being mediocre is not in Hoss’ vocabulary. He is always seeking out new and innovative ideas, through art, media, television – anywhere that inspires him to create the best images for himself and his clients.  And he ‘tests’ this innovation by constantly entering competitions of the highest level.  By winning awards that are being judged by some of the world’s other leading photographers, he ensures that he remains at the forefront of his profession, whilst also giving clear affirmation to his clients that they’ll receive outstanding results.

Hoss awarded MPA Central Region Master Photographer of the Year 2011

Abbots Langley photographer, Hoss, has won a hat-trick in winning the Regional Master Photographer of the Year award for the third year running.

Hoss, who regularly enters competitions, won both the family and press and public relations categories in the competition,
which is open to professional photographers as far afield as Northampton, Oxford, North London and Cambridge. He also won a clutch of silver and bronze awards in no fewer than ten other categories, including portraiture, fashion, fine art, and pictorial.

He said: "The competition was very fierce, and I won by one point. The judging was quite tough, and I was surprised when I finally snatched the top award." The winning family image was of a father and daughter while the winning press image was a publicity shot of a saxophonist. The competition is run by the Master Photographers Association, and his winning images will now be entered into the national awards held in October.

As well as being a popular local Portrait and Wedding photographer in Abbots Langley and surrounding areas of Watford, Hertfordshire, Hoss also lectures and judges photography both nationally and internationally.

Originally from Iran, the son of a famous film actor, Hoss has lived in Abbots Langley for over twenty years and has been a professional photographer since 1986. Indeed his very first customer still lives locally and is a regular client! Hoss is very aware of the support his customers give - he keeps his prices competitive and often runs special discounted offers locally. You can call him on 01923 494532

MPA Central Region Best Image of the Competition

The Regional Master Photographers Association held its print competition recently at the Pin Wei Restaurant in Abbots Langley, with International lecturer, photographer Ray Lowe FBIPP FMPA as the official judge.

The competition was fierce, with over 160 images entered, and many of the hopeful entrants turned out on the evening to enjoy a fabulous meal at the Pin Wei, before listening to an expert critique of their work from Ray. Having spent several hours pointing out missed opportunities, minor improvements, and complimenting good lighting and posing, he said, "These are the best set of images I have seen in a long while."

No wonder then that I felt incredibly proud when it was announced that I'd won in several categories - Pets, Fine Art, Fashion and Beauty, and the overall Best Image of the competition! Ray said of Hoss, "He's reached a point where his images are recognisable as 'A Hoss Image' - a class apart" So another win for us in the bag. I'm keeping the winning images under wraps for the time being, as I'll be entering them for the MPA National Awards in October.
